This morning, listening to the audiobook of Sarah Vowell’s The Wordy Shipmates, I drove the three-plus hours from the Chicagoland area to downtown Indianapolis through rain that seemed to be cooling down the dog days of September. And here I still am in Indie, attending this year’s ACFW Conference.
On my drive—when I wasn’t drinking lots of coffee because I’m teaching two night classes at Wheaton College this fall (Creative Writing and Fiction Writing), which I am LOVING even though I can never ever fall asleep afterwards until about 2 AM, and also listening and laughing and learning as Vowell shared her perspective on the complex influence of Puritans on these United States (and the rest of the world)—I was thinking about how happy I was that I was going to finally meet my editors for Sing for Me, Beth Adams and Amanda Demastus, and also see my agent and friend, Sandra Bishop.
Here I am side-wise, squinty-eyed, slightly elongated, and very happy to be with Beth and Amanda.
More to come! And maybe then I can get the pictures to post right-ways-up!
