I’ve sold another book!
This is a novel for adults (though young adults are welcome to read it too).
Here’s the write up of the deal as it appeared in Publisher’s Marketplace, courtesy of my agent, Sandra Bishop:
Karen Halvorsen Schreck’s SING FOR ME, based on her Pushcart Prize-winning story, raised in mid-Depression Chicago by Danish Baptist parents, a woman considers her singing voice more of a burden than a gift; when she falls in love with an African-American musician, she finds the faith to fight for her heart and her calling, to Becky Nesbitt at Howard Books, by Sandra Bishop at MacGregor Literary.
Here’s is a snippet of the contract.
I wrote the story that first got me thinking about these people in this place at this time back in 1996. I’ve been carrying hopes of writing this novel for nearly as long. I’m truly grateful that I’m finally having a chance to do so.
